The Proxmox Technology
Why Open-Source Software?
Here at Proxmox, we believe software should be open-source and easy-to-use. For better work and life.
At Proxmox we are committed to use open-source software whenever possible. We believe everybody should have the right to access the source code of a software and be able to run it, build on it, or submit changes back to the project. This guarantees full access to all functionalities for everybody - as well as high security and reliability.
Open-source software also helps to keep your costs low and avoids vendor lock-in by making your core infrastructure independent from a single vendor.

The Proxmox Linux Kernel
Our software is based on a rock-solid Linux kernel. Linux is a free Unix-type operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world. It is published under the GNU General Public License.
Linux provides great performance and is an extremely stable and reliable platform for our servers. It also supports a wide range of hardware configurations - from cheap systems for testing to high performance multiprocessor servers connected to SAN solutions.
Easy integration into your IT
Our server products can be easily integrated into your existing IT environment. We use the same core technologies for all of our products. If you are familiar with one Proxmox product, you are familiar with the rest of them. Because we wanted to make it easy for you to use our products.
Easy Installation in 5 Minutes
All Proxmox software products include an automatic installer. When you boot the installer from a USB flash-drive or CD, it will automatically detect your hardware. In terms of hardware you can use most i386/amd64-based PCs or servers, thanks to the fact that Proxmox products are based on the latest Linux kernels.
During installation, the wizard asks a few questions, then partitions the local disk(s), installs all required packages, and configures the system including a basic network setup. You will get a fully functional system within just a few minutes.
The complete installation will only take between 5 to 10 minutes. Then, the configuration is done with the integrated central, web-based management interface.
Web-based Management Interface
Easy configuration with the integrated GUI
After installing your Proxmox product with the automatic installer you can immediately start to configure and manage your administrative tasks via the web-based management interface.
The secure management interface is integrated in all Proxmox products - no need to install any additional and costly management tools.
