Open Source Software

We are committed to use Open Source Software (OSS) whenever possible. Proxmox Linux is based on the Debian GNU Linux Distribution (code name Sarge). Debian is the biggest Linux distribution available and is known as a very stable platform. By using Proxmox products you can benefit from OSS while getting professional support.

Proxmox servers use more than 240 different software packages and libraries, so we can only introduce a few of them here. For example our Mail Gateway products use Postfix as MTA,  Postgres as high performance database backend, Apache for the Web based configuration and SpamAssassin and ClamAV to detect spam and viruses.
